- Story Text: At 105 years old, Frenchman Robert Marchand will try to create a new cycling record on Wednesday (January 3) to break his feat from two years ago of pedalling almost 27 kilometres in one hour.
The former fireman and lumberjack first set a record when he was 100-years-old for his age category, when he rode 24 kilometres under one hour.
When he turned 102, he rode 10 percent faster and set the current record of 27 km.
He will ride at the velodrome in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines on Wednesday, where big crowds are expected to cheer him on. - Copyright Holder: FILE REUTERS (CAN SELL)
