- Story Text: The world's brightest minds are bringing their latest technological innovations to the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas in the hope their new big ideas will be the next big thing.
One such invention is the 'Hover Camera Passport,' a small drone loaded with a camera that follows its owner and takes photographs and videos of them while they go about their day.
Created by Zero Zero Robotics, what distinguishes this selfie-taking drone from its rivals is that it actually can search for and recognize its owner.
"So what I have in my hand is the hover camera, this is actually a flying robot, it's a flying piece of artificial Intelligence, it's like your personal photographer, it follows you around and records your life," said Wang Mengqiu, the founder of Beijing-based Zero Zero Robotics.
And for those who have ever wanted to experience what it feels like to be a superhero, there is the 'hypersuit,' a virtual reality simulator that uses a movable 'exoskeleton' to enable the user to experience flight, without leaving the comfort of their living room.
"We wanted to create the first vehicle for VR, sort of hybrid vehicle that allows you to do what ever you want to do, so you can for example fly, or you can dive, or ride, or anything that you dream to do that like regular people can't do, because it's too extreme or it's impossible even for humanity, for people, for human beings actually," explained Tom Sicard, Co-Founder and CEO of 'Hypersuit,' a French company.
And if you've ever found yourself grocery shopping without a shopping list, there is "FridgeCam," a wireless camera developed by Smarter, a London-based company.
"The 'FridgeCam' is a wireless camera that you can put inside any fridge. It uses object recognition, it takes a picture at an angle. When you open and close the fridge it sends a snapshot to your phone," said Christian Lane, CEO of Smarter.
Now meet 'Kuri,' a domesticated robot that can keep you company at home.
"This is 'Kuri', he's a programable, very smart robot who is super adorable. Hi Kuri. You can have him play hide and seek with your kids, let you know when your wife gets home, or play NPR and follow you around in the morning as you get ready," said Michael Beebe, CEO of Mayfield Robotics.
