- Story Text:One month ago Germany was hit by devastating floods. The clean-up work is still continuing today and victims of the recent deadly floods in western Germany fear there was more to come, saying "this is just the beginning."
"I firmly believe that there is more to come in the future," said Karl Hoebel from Erftstadt whose town was devastated by last month's floods.
"You don't just have to look at this region but elsewhere across the world and what's happening there with fires, heat waves and so on, I do believe that we have only just seen the beginning."
Erftstadt resident Cornelia Barthel said she was "one hundred percent convinced" that comparable flooding will happen again.
Shaking her head, she added "that's the reason why we don't want to live in our apartment anymore."
The German government and the federal states agreed on Tuesday (August 10) on a flood recovery fund of 30 billion euros ($35 billion).
More than 180 died in last month's flooding, Germany's worst natural disaster in more than half a century.
