- Story Text: The Dixie Fire continues to rage in Northern California one month to the day since it began.
The enormous wildfire had destroyed 1,120 and burned through 540,581 acres as of Friday (August 13), according to CalFire, making it by far the largest and most destructive of 11 wildfires burning across California, fought by nearly 10,000 personnel.
Video shot on August 12 and 13th showed the forest ablaze in Indian Valley.
The Dixie Fire, which broke out on July 14 in the Sierra Nevada Mountains some 160 miles (260 km) northeast of Sacramento, is the second largest in state history. Crews had contained only 31 percent of the blaze as of Friday.
