- Story Text: Two buses carrying people evacuated from Afghanistan left Frankfurt airport late on Thursday (August 19), bringing the evacuees to temporary accommodation in Brandenburg.
The evacuees were brought in on planes from Kabul via Tashkent in Uzbekistan to Frankfurt where they underwent coronavirus tests and identity checks.
They had fled to Kabul airport along with thousand of others after Kabul fell to the Taliban on Sunday 15, 2021, Germany has brought in almost a thousand German workers and local assistants over the last two days.
Around a hundred are due to be housed in Doberlug-Kirchhain in Brandenburg while authorities work on permanent accommodation.
