- Story Text: U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) administrator Samantha Power on Thursday (August 26) announced $32 million in assistance to Haiti.
The Caribbean country is reeling from an earthquake earlier this month that killed more than 2,000 people and destroyed or damaged tens of thousands of homes.
"As we build on this initial response I am pleased here to announce that USAID will provide an additional $32 million (U.S.) as part of a broader American response, to support people here affected by the earthquake," Power told a news conference in Port-au-Prince.
