We must not react with fear and paralysis. This is not normal." BANNER READING (French): "Leave the children alone" VARIOUS OF PROTEST (SOUNDBITE) (French) ANIMAL BREEDER JIMMY BOUCHER, SAYING; "There are some establishments, like in Paris, certain establishments where there are always crowds so it's not always possible to manage the rooms and all that, so maybe it (the health pass) could be useful. On the other hand, I live in the countryside, and when you see a small cafe, where we meet people, where there is a maximum of 10 people in 90 or 100 square metres, and we ask for a health pass, I find that useless and for me it's the death of small businesses." - Story Text: Thousands of demonstrators in Paris protested against France's health pass measures on Saturday (September 4) for the eighth consecutive weekend.
Led by far-right politician Florian Philippot, protesters chanted for President Emmanuel Macron to resign.
The health pass is official documentation with a QR scan code which proves a person has had the COVID-19 vaccine. Many French bars, restaurants, museums and sports venues will not allow people inside unless they can show the health pass.
While the majority of people in France have been vaccinated against COVID-19, demonstrators argue the health pass discriminates against those who have not, and infringes upon people's liberties.
