- Story Text: Chilean Health and Education ministries kicked off a vaccination campaign for children between the ages of 6 and 11 at schools on Monday (September 27).
Students from the Providencia District of Santiago waited along with their parents to receive their COVID-19 Sinovac vaccine jab in a school courtyard.
"I came to get the jab to take care of my family and to be more protected," said school pupil Martin Agurto Hermosilla, who was vaccinated on site.
Health Deputy Secretary Paula Daza, who attended the inoculation event, said authorities were aiming to vaccinate over 1.5 million children country-wide.
In May, health authorities approved the use of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine for teenagers over the age of 12.
Chile has already completed vaccination of 13.4 million of its 19 million population.
