The delegates to this meeting, they are really working with enthusiasm, yesterday they spent the whole day in working groups and they split up in even smaller working groups and they are preparing the documents, so they have a very clear idea and very straightforward priority and I think that by tonight we will have a good result." - Story Text: Climate activist Greta Thunberg managed a few moments to take a break on Thursday (September 29) as she attended Youth4Climate meetings in Milan.
Thunberg was seen looking at her phone and drinking some water as she sat under a tree inside the MiCo venue where the climate meetings are taking place.
On Wednesday Thunberg accused policymakers of too much 'blah, blah, blah,' and not enough action.
"The Greta speech was very important because it is always inspiring, it is always pushing to do more, to do more, to concentrate, to take into account the full picture because Greta is talking about not only climate but the general situation of the world, so talking about society, she's talking about behaviour of citizens," Italy's lead climate negotiator to the UNFCCC Federica Fricano told Reuters.
Thousands of young climate activists have converged on Italy’s financial capital with some 400, from about 190 countries, due to engage with policymakers to hammer out proposals for possible solutions to the damaging effects of climate change.
The Youth4Climate meeting will end on Thursday before a pre-COP26 meeting begins where proposals will be vetted by climate and energy ministers gathering at the same venue for their pre-COP26 meeting on Thursday through to Saturday.
"The delegates to this meeting, they are really working with enthusiasm, yesterday they spent the whole day in working groups and they split up in even smaller working groups and they are preparing the documents, so they have a very clear idea and very straightforward priority and I think that by tonight we will have a good result," Fricano said.
