- Story Text: Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Chairman and Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurtz said on Tuesday (January 17) the organisation needs to keep focused on the conflict in eastern Ukraine.
"We all know that there is no quick and easy solution. But it is nevertheless necessary that the conflict in and about eastern Ukraine stays in focus," Kurtz said after meeting Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in Kiev.
"It is our first priority to enlarge the mission, to provide better technical support and do everything possible to get better access and the observers really can do their job. I believe that this is an important step to provide better security for the people," added.
The OSCE mission in Ukraine operates mostly in two rebel-controlled regions in the east where, the Minsk peace agreements, it is responsible for monitoring a ceasefire between separatist and Ukrainian government forces. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
