- Story Text:A funeral ceremony was held in Istanbul on Thursday (January 19) for the four victims of a Turkish plane crashed near Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan on Monday (January 16).
People came together to pay their respects to the two pilots and two other crew members, who died when their Boeing 747 plane crashed into a small village near Bishkek on Monday.
The plane, owned by Istanbul-based cargo company ACT airlines, crashed about two kilometres away from the runway of the Manas international airport, killing 37 people on the ground.
It was supposed to make a stopover at the airport, before continuing its journey from Hong Kong to Istanbul, airport officials said, but it crashed in poor visibility.
The plane ploughed on for a few hundred metres (yards) through the village, home to hundreds of families, causing widespread damage.
