- Story Text: A huge Christmas tree was lit at a children's hospital in Lima on Friday (December 10), bringing joy and hope to young patients and their parents, who are spending the festive season there.
Nurses, doctors and hospital staff also joined in, dressing up as Santa, while all the children were given reindeer antlers headbands.
''I am excited that she (daughter) can witness this, because the hospital is like a second home for us. We have been coming every month for one year for her checkups," said Carol Hidalgo, whose daughter Emilia Pinedo is a patient at the hospital.
Another patient called Roxana, who suffered from burns on 90 percent of her body after a car crash, also joined in the celebrations.
The children will be spending Christmas in the hospital's intensive care unit.
