- Story Text: Farmers took down their settlements, vacated the borders around the Indian capital New Delhi on Saturday (December 11) and returned to their homes after the announcement of the suspension of their year-long protest.
The Indian government agreed to concede to a clutch of pending demands, including assurances to consider guaranteed prices for all produce, not just rice and wheat.
The protesters were seen dancing, celebrating, and clearing the roads, as they looked forward to returning home.
Tens of thousands of farmers have staged more than a year of protests at the borders of the Indian capital, to persuade Prime Minister Narendra Modi to repeal three agriculture laws from late 2020. Last month, Modi made a surprise U-turn, saying he would roll them back. - Copyright Holder: ANI (India)
