- Story Text: UN Special Envoy to Syria, Geir Pedersen said on Sunday (December 12) he sees new opportunities for what he called a "step for step" approach to solve the ten-year-Syrian-crisis but did not give detail.
"I think there is a possibility now to start to explore what I call "a step for step" approach, where you put on the table steps that is defined with precision, that is verifiable, that hopefully can start to build some trust," he told reporters after a two-hour meeting with Syrian foreign minister, Faisal Mekdad in Damascus.
Pedersen added he has been travelling extensively throughout the Arab region and holding talks with officials, in addition to in-depth discussions with the "Americans and Europeans".
