- Story Text: Board member of the human rights group Memorial Oleg Orlov said on Tuesday (December 14) that the court process against the organisation is an attack against all civil society in Russia.
Memorial supporters gathered near the Russian Supreme Court building on Tuesday morning when the court was expected to deliver its verdict.
The group's main offices now face the threat of being shut down at the behest of state prosecutors who accuse it of flouting Russia's "foreign agent" laws.
The announcement of the verdict has been postponed to December 28.
Founded in 1989, Memorial is an international historical society researching the political repressions and monitoring human rights in Russia and other post-Soviet states.
The Memorial Society was declared a "foreign agent" in 2016.
