- Title: FILM-ENTOURAGE/PREMIERE "Entourage" cast reunite on blue carpet for European premiere
- Date: 9th June 2015
- Summary: LONDON, ENGLAND, UNITED KINGDOM (JUNE 9, 2015) (REUTERS) ACTRESS SABINA GADECKI AND "ENTOURAGE" DIRECTOR DOUG ELLIN BEING INTERVIEWED SEPARATELY ON BLUE CARPET ELLIN TALKING TO MEDIA (SOUNDBITE) (English) "ENTOURAGE" DIRECTOR, DOUG ELLIN, SAYING: (Reporter: "Do you think it's a fantasy?") "No, I know it's not, you know. We hang out with these guys and Mark Wahlberg, we do it real. And you know, I think what's interesting is what happened with criticism, it's like when people realised and remembered there were these poor guys from Queens, they were like 'oh, rooting for them'. Now that they feel like they're rich and successful, people are going 'oh, we got to put them down'. But at the end of the day that's what they are - they're four working class guys who happen to be in fantasy land and we see the world through their eyes, and honestly it's realistic to what it is." ACTORS ADRIAN GRENIER AND KEVIN CONNOLLY BEING INTERVIEWED SEPARATELY AND THEN HUGGING EACH OTHER (SOUNDBITE) (English) ACTOR, ADRIAN GRENIER, WHO PLAYS 'VINCENT CHASE', SAYING: "You know a lot of people are saying it's a guys' movie, that's not true. Women love this movie and I suggest that girls go out with their ladies and make it a ladies' night." GRENIER POSING FOR PHOTOGRAPHS WITH FANS AND THEN WALKING BY ACTOR JEREMY PIVEN TALKING TO MEDIA (SOUNDBITE) (English) ACTOR, JEREMY PIVEN, WHO PLAYS 'ARI GOLD', SAYING: "I think the character has taken on a life of its own. And I'm kind of a stage actor from Chicago, I'm a thespian or you call it a 'luvvie' in this country. So to be mistaken for a reactive, hot-headed, money-grubbing agent is confusing. But it's a character that I was just so honoured to play. So I think this movie delivers, we made it for the fans and the response has been amazing - from the fans I should say." "ENTOURAGE" POSTER ATTACHED TO BARRICADE WITH FANS STANDING BEHIND (SOUNDBITE) (English) ACTOR, JERRY FERRARA, WHO PLAYS 'TURTLE', SAYING: "It's always been a friendship show and it's certainly a friendship movie at the heart. That's why, in terms of the over-glamorising Hollywood, if we do do that it's because these guys are underdogs, they shouldn't be at this party but they all - they kind of snuck in, you know, and they're best friends at heart of it." VARIOUS OF ACTOR KEVIN CONNOLLY BEING INTERVIEWED (SOUNDBITE) (English) ACTOR, KEVIN CONNOLLY, WHO PLAYS 'ERIC', SAYING: "People have had worse jobs is my guess. It's always been fun, anybody that tells you any different is lying. We've had a tremendous 12 years and as an actor it's nearly impossible, so." ACTOR KEVIN DILLON WALKING WHILE HOLDING CAMERA DILLON TALKING TO MEDIA (SOUNDBITE) (English) ACTOR, KEVIN DILLON, WHO PLAYS 'JOHNNY DRAMA', SAYING: "Yeah, I think it is, I do. I think people do all these extravagant things - big parties, flying private jets - yeah it happens. I've seen it, I've seen it in LA many times." ACTOR DAVID HASSELHOFF TALKING TO MEDIA TO WIDE SHOT OF ACTRESS EMMANUELLE CHRIQUI IN FOREGROUND (SOUNDBITE) (English) ACTRESS, EMMANUELLE CHRIQUI, WHO PLAYS 'SLOAN', SAYING: "No, I don't think friendship or loyalty is a he or a she. And I think that that's a lot of what this movie is. We're seeing the guys, it's like bigger and better - it's like the film's on steroids, that's what it feels like you know. It's like four, five of the best episodes turned into a movie."

- Story Text: The main cast of "Entourage", along with director-screenwriter Doug Ellin, walked the blue carpet for the film's European premiere in London's Leicester Square on Tuesday (June 9).
The big screen adaptation of the hit HBO series sees the return of movie star Vincent Chase, together with his best friends Eric, Turtle and Johnny and super agent-turned-studio head Ari Gold, four years after the show concluded following eight seasons. In this story, Vincent convinces Ari to take on a risky project that will also serve as his directorial debut. Besides exploring the behind-the-scenes world of movie-making, especially the challenges of financing, the group indulge in pool parties, pretty girls and fast cars.
Despite building a devoted fan base on television, the "Entourage" film failed to win critics in early reviews. Trade publications, such as Variety and Screen International, said the full-length feature played like a longer, but not necessarily better, episode of the original show.
Another criticism of the film was that it celebrated Hollywood excess and hedonism. When asked whether "Entourage" portrayed an unrealistic, fantasy version of Tinseltown, director-screenwriter Ellin replied with a firm 'no'.
"We hang out with these guys and Mark Wahlberg, we do it real. And you know, I think what's interesting is what happened with criticism, it's like when people realised and remembered there were these poor guys from Queens, they were like 'oh, rooting for them'. Now that they feel like they're rich and successful, people are going 'oh, we got to put them down'. But at the end of the day that's what they are - they're four working class guys who happen to be in fantasy land and we see the world through their eyes, and honestly it's realistic to what it is," he said.
That sentiment was shared by actor Kevin Dillon (Johnny Drama), who said he had witnessed the high-flying nature of Los Angeles: "I think people do all these extravagant things - big parties, flying private jets - yeah it happens. I've seen it, I've seen it in LA many times."
Although "Entourage" is centred on the 'bromance' between childhood friends, the cast said both male and female cinema-goers would enjoy it.
"You know a lot of people are saying it's a guys' movie, that's not true. Women love this movie and I suggest that girls go out with their ladies and make it a ladies' night," said actor Adrian Grenier (Vincent Chase).
His co-star Emmanuelle Chriqui (Sloan) added: "I don't think friendship or loyalty is a he or a she. And I think that that's a lot of what this movie is."
In terms of the characters, Jeremy Piven commented on the apparent staying power and popularity of his "Entourage" alter ego Ari Gold.
"I'm kind of a stage actor from Chicago, I'm a thespian or you call it a 'luvvie' in this country. So to be mistaken for a reactive, hot-headed, money-grubbing agent is confusing. But it's a character that I was just so honoured to play. So I think this movie delivers, we made it for the fans and the response has been amazing - from the fans I should say," said the Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winning actor.
In keeping with the television series, "Entourage" boasts a plethora of cameo apperances, including Liam Neeson, Jessica Alba, Mark Wahlberg, Calvin Harris and billionaire businessman Warren Buffett. Retired professional footballer Thierry Henry also makes his film debut in a brief scene with Ari. The former Arsenal player said he wasn't in his "comfort zone" but he still "really enjoyed" the experience.
"Entourage" is already out in the US and will go on release in the UK on June 19. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
