- Story Text: A grand ceremony was held in the Saudi Arabian capital Riyadh on Wednesday (January 25), to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the King Faisal Air Academy (KFAA).
Newly acquired fighter jets took to the skies, with dignitaries from across the region joining this year's graduating pilots to mark the anniversary.
Saudi Arabia's King Salman attended the ceremony, along with Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
They congratulated the new pilots and posed for photographs after the students had performed a ceremonial march and received their diplomas.
The new F-15SA fighters which featured in the air show will join the fleet at the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF).
Saudi ordered 84 new F-15SAs and around 70 kits to upgrade their existing F-15S fleet.
Sudan's President Omar Al Bashir attended the event along with representatives from Boeing, military officials and families of the graduating students.
After the honouring ceremony for the graduates, the king and other dignitaries enjoyed a lavish air show display, which featured the fighter jets along with other aircraft. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
