Speaking at the unveiling of his 2017 Movistar team on Wednesday (January 25) The Colombian told Reuters TV: "I have already won the Giro and I'm missing the Tour, so I'm very much looking forward for the Tour. It's a dream that we have had for years and I hope we can achieve it with the team that we have this year."
Quintana, a climbing specialist, won the Vuelta a Espana last year, and Giro d' Italia in 2014, and has placed second in the the Tour de France in 2013 and 2015.
Movistar team-mate Alejandro Valverde, who won the Vuelta in 2009, said he hoped to have a good season in order to help Quintana win the most prestigious race in cycling.
"We make a very different calendar with Nairo except for the Tour," said Valverde. "For the Tour, Nairo is clearly going to be the main rider. We have to give it all to try to win the Tour, it's the main objective of the whole team. On my part, I hope to do a good Vuelta a Espana and do very well on the spring classic races."
For the 2017 season, Briton Alex Dowsett wants to regain the UCI World Hour record, currently held by Bradley Wiggins. We have not confirmed anything yet, but we are working towards for it (a record attempt)," said Dowsett. "It's something we want to do this year so it's exciting. I mean it's massive, the mark Wiggins set 54 and a half. It's going to require a lot, not just for me but all the sponsors and everyone so it's something we can't just do. We have to really put a lot of time and effort into it."
Dowsett, a time trial specialist, set the World record at 53.937 km in 2015, only to see it broken by Wiggins a month later. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
