It did what it needed to do and you supported her until that point and then you decided to put your hands up and leave. No, no no. Your part of this just as much as everyone else is. We've all been egging her on. That reaction is my ideal."

- Story Text: British film 'Lady Macbeth' has been building buzz since it premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and was listed as one of the top ten films at the festival by trade publication Variety.
The film, which follows a young woman forced into a marriage she desperately wants to escape from, was also picked up for distribution by Roadside Attractions.
Florence Pugh plays the lead character, whose choices at first seem natural but then become increasingly ruthless as the stakes grow higher.
Pugh has been receiving high praise her role, going from innocent to master manipulator.
Speaking at the film's Sundance film festival screening, the film's director William Oldroyd explained how key Pugh was to the making of the film.
"She needed to present a young innocent who then through the course of the film becomes somebody who essentially is led to violent acts and is completely changed by the end but she needed to present those things and she can. She's so versatile, her instinct is so good and we're just so glad to work with her really," he explained.
"To me that was one of the most important things, she had to be likeable," said Pugh. "We had to love her and that was so important in the first couple of scenes to make her something that we could relate to, something quite delicious that we wanted to love and we felt sorry for and with that you follow her and you follow her to the very end even though she'd done so much wrong."
In the film, Katherine (Pugh) finds love in the shape of stable hand Sebastian (Cosmo Jarvis) and subsequently tries to protect her relationship by any means possible.
Pugh explained, saying "The best thing is when you're sitting in the cinema and people get up and leave at the end because there's quite a controversial scene at the end and I can't say what but some people get up and leave and to me, that's just perfect. It did what it needed to do and you supported her until that point and then you decided to put your hands up and leave. No, no no. You're part of this just as much as everyone else is. We've all been egging her on. That reaction is my ideal."
