Details - INTRO: Diana, the Princess of Wales, has met South African President Nelson Mandela at his Cape Town residence, Genadendal. Diana went to Mandela's Cape Town residence on Monday (March 17) during her visit to the South African City to celebrate her nephew's birthday and visit her brother, Earl Spencer. Diana, divorced wife of the heir to the British throne Prince Charles, said she and Mandela had discussed Aids (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) in South Africa. She said she had offered her assistance to the country. Mandela complimented Diana on her call for a ban on landmines. He said she had helped to influence the South African government's decision to ban the manufacture of landmines. Diana visited landmine victims in Angola in January.
