- Story Text: Jordanian mathematics teacher Ahmad Khalil takes to social media to break the ice between his students and the subject.
Known among his students as “Khalilioâ€, the 32-year-old teacher started posting short mathematics videos on TikTok in December last year.
Since then, he has taken TikTok by storm with millions of views and thousands of followers.
Following his success, he started posting videos on other social media platforms such as Facebook and Youtube.
“You know that mathematics is a rigid subject disliked by students. Also you should not forget that the current generation is a social media generation. So I combined social media with mathematics to make them like the subject by appearing to them on social media," he said.
Khalil keeps his video short, dividing an hour-long lesson into several 30-second videos, each carrying a main idea and some ‘flavour’ to make them interesting.
“My friends and I used to play football or watch a TV series for entertainment. Now we entertain ourselves by solving mathematics questions. We started feeling that mathematics is a piece of cake,†Laith Diab, one of Khalil's students, said.
