- Story Text:Relatives of victims from a deadly metro train collapse marched in Mexico City on Tuesday (May 3) to mark the one year anniversary of the tragedy.
With photos of their family members and wooden crucifixes bearing their names, a small group gathered to pay homage to the 26 people who died when an overpass and train carriage on Metro Line 12 suddenly plummeted onto a stream of cars near the Olivos station in the southeast of the city.
An independent auditor's report released by the city government last September stated that the collapse was caused in part by missing bolts in beams in an overpass that already had deficiencies before a major earthquake.
Since then, Mexico City's Attorney General has said there is evidence to charge a number of people and companies linked to the collapse.
Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim has said his construction firm, Grupo Carso, which helped build the section that collapsed, will repair the line at no cost to the government.
