- Story Text: Officials from UN World Food Programme visited a facility that procures, cleans and packages wheat from India to Afghanistan on Wednesday (May 04).
The delegation from World Food Programme visited the facility in northern Amritsar city and praised the work being performed at the facility,
"We are extremely impressed with the operation and all the hard work that's gone into getting this wheat out to the people of Afghanistan as a gift from the people of India," said Dr Stephanie Heard, Loss Prevention Officer, World Food Programme,
In total, India plans to send 50,000 tonnes of wheat to Afghanistan on an infrequently used land route through Pakistan, in a bid to help the country facing poverty and hunger since the takeover by the Taliban last year. - Copyright Holder: ANI (India)
