  • Story Text: Saturday’s Nations League game against Italy is difficult to assess, Germany coach Hansi Flick said on the sidelines of a training session on Friday (June 3).
    Referring to the Italian side’s coach, Flick told reporters in Herzogenaurach “it’s the second time Roberto Mancini has introduced a new cycle” with “a lot of young players who are ambitious on the pitch,” adding “I’m not sure that’s advantageous for the opponent.”
    Mancini's squad missed out on World Cup qualification after losing 1-0 at home to North Macedonia in their playoff semi-final in March, their second successive failure to do so, having previously not missed a World Cup finals since 1958.
    Italy and Germany face off at Bologna’s Renato Dall’Ara stadium at 8:45 p.m. (1845 GMT) on Saturday.
