And I just talked here with Marten, aka Marteria, and also with Campino, who visited us here with the Toten Hosen as a special guest. And they also said how much they missed it, just to interact with the audience together like that again. And that is a very, very nice feeling. But of course you also have to, well I personally need some time to get used to the fact that it's like before the pandemic again. - Story Text: After a two-year break, the popular Rock am Ring festival kicked off at the Nuerburgring on Friday.
Tens of thousands of fans visited the sold-out, three-day event to see bands like Green Day, Broilers, Muse or Placebo live.
After the long awaited restart of the festival season, the euphoria among visitors and also bands was visible.
"I just talked here with Marten, aka Marteria, and also with Campino, who visited us here with the Toten Hosen as a special guest. And they also said how much they missed it, just to interact with the audience together like that again. And that is a very, very nice feeling," organizer Matt Schwarz of Dreamhaus told Reuters on Friday.
The fascination of Rock am Ring is hard to explain, Hip Hop artist Jan Delay told Reuters on Friday.
"Rock am Ring I think always has a special rank for all the artists who play here, too, because it's just an institution."
Organizers said 90,000 tickets were sold for the festival this year. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
