- Story Text:Excited guests and ballot winners arrived for a Jubilee pop concert at Buckingham Palace in London on Saturday (June 4).
The "Party at the Palace" features the likes of rock group Queen, American R&B singer Alicia Keys and U.S. singer Diana Ross.
First in the queue, having arrived at 0600 GMT was 56-year-old transport worker Gerry Haines with his wife Mandy.
"It’s a party mood and it’s a party in London and you know it’s gonna be something that people talk about for years to come for sure," he said.
Queen Elizabeth's son and heir Prince Charles and her grandson Prince William will pay tribute to the record-breaking monarch at the concert on the third day of nationwide celebrations for her 70 years on the throne.
Performers from around the world will entertain some 22,000 people, as well as millions watching on television.
The queen herself had not been expected to attend.
The concert will also feature a specially recorded performance by Elton John, a performance from rock band Queen + Adam Lambert, and conclude with Diana Ross' first live appearance in Britain in 15 years.
Queen guitarist Brian May, who played the national anthem from the roof of the palace at a concert for Elizabeth's golden jubilee in 2002, said the band was happy to have been invited again.
"I think just looking around you, just look and see the amount of support here and you know everyone is here to celebrate the Queen and it truly is a momentous occasion to be celebrating, I mean 70 years that’s amazing," said 46-year-old author and illustrator Steve Antony.
