- Story Text: Several thousand Berlin ravers took to the streets of the German capital on Saturday (August 27) for the annual "Love Train" (Zug der Liebe), a protest march with a techno soundtrack.
Thudding techno music blared out from more than a dozen floats sponsored by charities and campaign groups, for causes as diverse as homelessness, refugee aid and animal rights.
Organisers describe the event, which has been held every year since 2015, as a social rave, with participants demonstrating for openness and civic engagement.
In 2022 they get the train rolling under the motto "We are making visible", giving a platform to social institutions, organiser Jens Schwan told Reuters TV.
The parade was the first without strict coronavirus restictions for two years.
"We definitely enjoy being able to be outside again and the atmosphere. I think everyone is happy to be out again and enjoy life," said Kathi as she marched along the parade and fellow raver Robert stated: "It"s outside and possible to keep some distance. The main thing is to have fun."
The techno train made its way through the streets of Berlin with people dancing on floats all the way to the district of Kreuzberg, as live electronic music was played.
