- Date: 12th September 2022
- Summary: ***WARNING: CONTAINS FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY*** DESIGNER WES GORDON ON RUNWAY GORDON GREETING CAROLINA HERRERA AFTER SHOW (SOUNDBITE) (English) DESIGNER, WES GORDON, SAYING: “So the inspiration this season was actually a childhood favorite book, ‘The Secret Garden.’ And I like this idea of creating a garden for a spring collection. And the secret comes from the injections of black and the touches of the black accessories, giving it that little bit of mystery and sensuality. It began with four beautiful artworks that I found from a fabric archive of florals, and I really just created the whole collection around them.†GORDON GREETING GUEST (SOUNDBITE) (English) DESIGNER, WES GORDON, SAYING: “With the mix in prints, in some pieces, in particular the chiffon ones, they're all separate pieces of fabric that are very delicately stitched together. So, the greatest part of my job, my greatest joy and honor, is working with our atelier of pattern makers who are exquisite.†VARIOUS OF GORDON TAKING PICTURES WITH KLOSS (SOUNDBITE) (English) DESIGNER, WES GORDON, SAYING: “So it’s Monday morning at the Plaza. Gloomy day. I wanted fun music, and we did Barbra Streisand, we did three songs. We started with ‘Don't Rain on My Parade’ and then we went to ‘Guilty’ and then we ended with ‘Hello, Dolly.’ So, if everyone wasn't tapping their feet and humming those songs the rest of the day, I don't know what's wrong with them.†KLOSS TAKING PHOTOS ON RUNWAY

- Story Text: The glamour of the Plaza Hotel was the backdrop for Carolina Herrera’s spring/summer runway show at New York Fashion Week: The Shows on Monday (September 12).
Creative director Wes Gordon found inspiration from his favorite childhood book, “The Secret Garden†and an archival floral fabric book.
“I like this idea of creating a garden for a spring collection. And the secret comes from the injections of black and the touches of the black accessories, giving it that little bit of mystery and sensuality.â€
The collection plays with the scale, size and color of flowers and created an unkept garden feel by mixing prints.
Sexy, yet sophisticated cutouts on dresses helped to create an unapologetic embrace of glamour and beauty and joy that Gordon was seeking.
Gordon selected the music for the show as a way to lift spirits on a gloomy New York day.
“I wanted fun music, and we did Barbra Streisand, we did three songs. We started with ‘Don't Rain on My Parade’ and then we went to ‘Guilty’ and then we ended with ‘Hello, Dolly.’ So, if everyone wasn't tapping their feet and humming those songs the rest of the day, I don't know what's wrong with them.â€
The show closed with the five women, lead by supermodel Karlie Kloss, who are the face of the brand’s ‘Good Girl’ fragrance.
New York fashion week will end on September 14.
