  • Story Text: Residents of Foresthill, California, tried to protect their homes by hosing down their roofs as the Mosquito Fire approached their properties on Friday (September 9.)
    Local resident James Lowery was seen hosing down his and his neighbor's roof. The wildfire has already forced people to evacuate from their homes since Wednesday (September 7).
    "We haven't slept in three days," Lowery told Reuters.
    According to a public information officer from the local firefighters, Chris Vestal, the Mosquito Fire has consumed 29,585 acres of land and has doubled its size since Thursday (September 8).
    The fire is one of two massive fires the state is dealing with.
    Evacuation orders were also in place in the southern part of the state, near Los Angeles as firefighters worked to contain the Fairview Fire.
