The royals emerged outside the Queen's Scottish home, where she died on Thursday (September 8) and her body still remains, and were met by throngs of mourners who had gathered to pay their respects.
Atop the castle, the Royal Banner of Scotland flew at full mast to mark the accession of King Charles to the throne.
Charles, Elizabeth eldest son and heir, was formally proclaimed king at a ceremony in London earlier on Saturday.
