Britain's Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, turns 38-years-old on Thursday (September 15), a week after the death of his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth.
In his younger days, Harry was depicted by the media as a royal wild child.
He admitted smoking cannabis and getting drunk when underage in a pub, scuffled with paparazzi outside a London nightclub and sparked outrage by dressing as a Nazi officer at a costume party.
But he became one of the most popular royals with his easy-going nature and years of military service, and his 2018 marriage to U.S. actress Meghan Markle was hailed as the epitome of a new modern monarchy.
However, in a huge blow to the institution, they announced in January 2020 they would step down from royal roles, unhappy with the intrusion and media focus on their lives.
The couple now live in a mansion in California with their two young children, son Archie and daughter Lilibet.
On Wednesday (September 14), Harry and his brother Prince William joined other royals in a solemn procession to accompany Queen Elizabeth's coffin on the late monarch's final journey from Buckingham Palace.
Walking directly behind the coffin were the princes' father, the newly-crowned King Charles, and their aunt and uncles, Anne, Andrew and Edward.
William and Harry followed behind the Queen's children in a doleful scene reminiscent of when, as boys 25 years ago, they followed the casket of their mother, Princess Diana, when it was taken on a similar procession through central London.
It was also a symbolic show of unity as William, 40, now the Prince of Wales, and Harry, the Duke of Sussex, are said to barely on speaking terms after a bitter falling out in the last couple of years. - Copyright Holder: POOL (CAN SELL)
