- Story Text: Swiss officials unveiled on Wednesday (September 14) a bust of Thailand's late King, Bhumibol Adulyadej, who died in 2016 at the age of 88, at the Thai pavilion in a park overlooking Lake Geneva, in Lausanne.
The bust is a gift from an alumni association of Thai students in Switzerland to honor the memory of the late king who studied and lived in the canton of Vaud.
“He (late King of Thailand, Bhumibol Adulyadej) lived here when he was around 18 years old. He studied here and then he went back to Bangkok to become king of Thailand,†said the president of the alumni association of Thai students in Switzerland, Koblarp Poshakrishna said.
The late king's daughter, Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, was present at the ceremony.
