Central Kyiv was rocked by a series of explosions on Monday morning, (October 10). Video shot by Reuters shows many damaged burnt-out vehicles and the body of one of the victims of the blast.
The city's Mayor, Vitali Klitschko, said the shelling of Kyiv hit buildings including some that are part of the Ukrainian capital's "critical infrastructure." Klitschko said people were affected but gave no details of those killed or wounded.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said there were dead and wounded in blasts that rocked cities across Ukraine and accused Russia of trying to wipe his country "off the face of the earth."
The explosions took place after Russian President Vladimir Putin accused Ukraine of a terrorist attack on a bridge linking Russia and Crimea, sparking calls for reprisals from top officials in Moscow.
