And we have discussed this already, he agreed during of our yesterday's talks that the grain flows should be defined and directed firstly to the poorest countries."  REPORTER ASKING QUESTION  (SOUNDBITE) (Russian) RUSSIAN PRESIDENT, VLADIMIR PUTIN, SAYING:      "If humanitarian corridors for grain supply to the poorest countries, even when it's not going there - this was an excuse for the whole work (grain deal), if these humanitarian corridors emerge to be used for terrorist attacks, it would call into question further existence of such corridor."  PUTIN SPEAKING  (SOUNDBITE) (Russian) RUSSIAN PRESIDENT, VLADIMIR PUTIN, SAYING:      "India and China always speak about the necessity to establish the dialogue and resolve things peacefully, and we know their position. They are our close allies and partners."  REPORTER ASKING QUESTIONS  (SOUNDBITE) (Russian) RUSSIAN PRESIDENT, VLADIMIR PUTIN, SAYING:      "But we also know Kyiv's position. They were constantly saying that they want peace talks, but now they set the official decision which prohibits those talks." REPORTERS  (SOUNDBITE) (Russian) RUSSIAN PRESIDENT, VLADIMIR PUTIN, SAYING:      "We are open to talks. That is what we always say. We've reached some agreements in Istanbul. And these agreements were actually almost initialed. But once our troops been withdrawn from Kyiv, the desire of the Kyiv to continue the talks disappeared. That's all. But if they would be ripe for this decision (to continue), then maybe all negotiation efforts would be required."

  • Story Text: Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday (October 14) that humanitarian corridors for Ukrainian grain should be closed if it emerged that they were being used for what he called "acts of terror".
    Russia has been increasingly critical in recent months of a Turkish-brokered deal that it signed in July to unblock food exports from Ukraine's Black Sea ports, which Russia had blockaded.
