- Story Text:The Indian Army paid tribute to 'Zoom', a canine who succumbed to his bullet injuries during a militant attack, in India's northern Jammu city on Friday (October 14).
The two-year-old assault dog which belonged to the Malinois or Belgian Shepherd breed was hit by two bullets during a gunfight between the army and the militants in Anantnag on last week, said media reports.
The Indian Army's dog squad paid tributes to 'Zoom' and 'Excel', another canine soldier who lost his life during a militant attack in July.
"We felt extremely sad while paying tribute to 'Zoom'. However, we were also happy that for the Indian Army, the dogs ('Excel' and 'Zoom') fulfilled their duties will all earnestness," said Indian Army's Master Dog Trainer, Shubhdeep Ghosh.
The dog squad also performed mock attack drills for family members of the army personnel.
