- Story Text: Argentina's monthly inflation rate was 6.2% in September, the government's INDEC statistics agency said on Friday (October 14), below analyst forecasts for a 6.7% increase in consumer prices.
Inflation in the 12 months through September hit 83%, as the South American country battles surging prices that are sapping people's wages and savings. Prices were up 66.1% in the first nine months of the year.
From Buenos Aires, employee Virginia Demaio said doing one's groceries is hard as prices keep changing constantly.
Rising prices, especially food and fuel, are hurting Argentines badly, which has damaged the center-left Peronist government of President Alberto Fernandez ahead of general elections next year.
