- Story Text:Turkish Defence Ministry released video of a military bomb squad on Monday (December 5) carrying out drills in Doha as part of international efforts to contribute to maintaining security at FIFA 2022 World Cup.
Video shot on Saturday (December 3) sniffer dogs sifting through a stadium and vehicle to find potential explosives and experts carrying out controlled explosions.
Turkey sent more than 3,000 security officers to Qatar for the 2022 World Cup and also trained Qatari personnel ahead of the competition.
In addition to the some 3,000 riot police and other personnel deployed at the World Cup, authorities said 100 members of a special forces unit, 50 bomb-detection dogs and their operators, and 50 bomb experts and other staff were sent to Qatar as well.
Turkey and Qatar have strengthened ties in recent years, with Ankara backing Doha in its dispute with other Gulf states and the two countries frequently cooperating on commercial and economic issues. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
