According to Variety, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mel Red Recana confirmed the award previously handed down by an arbitrator in October 2020 that consisted of around $29.5 million in damages and $1.5 million in costs and fees, after it found Spacey breached his contract with MRC, the producer of "House of Cards", by violating the company's harassment policy. MRC claimed Spacey's misconduct had resulted in millions in lost profits, after he was removed from the sixth season of the show. Spacey's attorneys disagreed that his behaviour violated MRC's anti-harassment policy, saying it amounted to nothing more than "sexual innuendos and innocent horseplay", according to Variety. Once one of Hollywood's biggest stars, the Oscar-winning actor was dropped from Netflix's "House of Cards" and removed from the movie "All the Money in the World" after he was accused in 2017 of sexual misconduct by more than 20 men, including actor Anthony Rapp who accused Spacey of making a sexual advance on him in 1986, when Rapp was 14. Spacey denies all accusations of misconduct.
