- Summary: Rapper A$AP Rocky taken into custody in LA in connection to a shooting U.S. rapper A$AP Rocky was taken into custody in connection to a November 2021 shooting as he arrived from Barbados at Los Angeles International Airport on April 20, NBC News reported. Los Angeles Police Department officers and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained the artist who arrived on a private plane from the Caribbean island where he was vacationing with his girlfriend, pop singer Rihanna, the network reported. Police in Los Angeles were investigating the rapper, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, for his possible involvement in a Nov. 6, 2021 shooting of a former friend in Hollywood. In court in August, he pleaded not guilty to two felony charges of assault with a firearm connected to the November shooting. He is expected back in court in January 2023 for a decision on when a preliminary hearing will happen.
