- Title: Extreme weather timeline from August-November 2022
- Date: 1st November 2022
- Summary: Volunteers were hard at work trying to save thousands of fish that were gasping in the waters of the Orchetto River near Turin on 16 November. Tench, catfish and carp, used to overwintering in the canals or pools of the Po tributaries, were trapped in the shallow waters with a shortage of oxygen. According to the Regional Agency for Environmental Protection (ARPA), the scarcity of water caused by the summer drought reduced the number and depth of natural pools in the river, reducing the number of winter refuges for the fish, making them overcrowded.
