- Story Text: Indian army soldiers are battling extreme cold weather conditions and snow as they patrol along the border areas in northern Jammu and Kashmir federal territory.
Wearing clothes and shoes equipped to fight harsh winter, soldiers were seen doing surveillance on Sunday (January 01) amid snow.
"Even if they have to fight (tough conditions) like weather or terrain or the enemy, so for that we have extreme cold climate clothing, proper training and various gadgets," said an army official.
Meanwhile, cold wave and dense fog continued to trouble people in eastern Patna and central Ujjain city, where people lit bonfires, sipped tea to keep themselves warm and took extra precautions while travelling amid fog.
Snowfall in states like Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh has a direct impact on other northern states like Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh.
South Asia's winters are not as cold as other regions such as North America, but the millions of poor here are hit harder because they live in the open and do not have enough warm clothes and some even die. - Copyright Holder: ANI (India)
