He was a figure of high value also from a theological point of view and as a role in the church. His resignation affected me a lot and seeing him like that gives me the feeling that an era is over." (SOUNDBITE) (English) PRIEST FROM ZAMBIA, FATHER CALLISTUS KAHALE KABINDAMA, SAYING: "I feel moved, it was a moment of renewal, I would say so, and a touching moment. He was a great pope, a marvellous pope. He was able to explain about the scriptural matters of faith and also the traditional teachings of the Church. So that's what I have to say so at least I will remember him for that." (SOUNDBITE) (Italian) ROME RESIDENT, PIERINA NICOLOSO, SAYING: "I felt moved to see him like that, poor thing...so small...he was such a dear, dear person." (SOUNDBITE) (Italian) ROME RESIDENT, STEFANIA TERRAZZINO, SAYING: "It was an event that brought so many people together. We were all there at that moment with a witness of religion and faith that united all these people. I had never seen a pope up close before. We were all there for that, a really great emotion."
