- Story Text:Panasonic unveiled new plans on Wednesday (January 4) at CES in Las Vegas that focused on the climate and reducing their impact.
"Solving global environmental issues is our top priority and achieving net zero by 2030 is only the beginning," said Panasonic Group Chief Technology Officer Tatsuo Ogawa at the event. "Our goal is to lower emissions on the planet by 1% of total emissions by 2050. That's 300 million tons of CO2 saved from our atmosphere. It's an ambitious goal but an achievable one."
The company also recently opened a new electrical vehicle battery plant and aims to produce more infrastructure for vehicles in the years ahead.
"66 batteries per second. 5.5 million batteries a day, that's 2 billion batteries per year," said President Allan Swain of Panasonic Energy of North America, boasting about the company's new plant in development in Kansas, as well as their plant in Nevada. "In the next 24 hours, we will deliver our seven billionths in Nevada. So it's an awesome scalability that Panasonic has delivered."
In addition to the climate-focused plans, the company released its plans for a new version of its OLED televisions, photographic equipment, and an all-in-one shaver that wastes less plastic than others currently on the market.
