- Story Text: On mountain Jahorina above Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina, home to the 1984 Winter Olympics, it should have been one of the busiest weeks of the season. Instead, on Wednesday (January 4) cable cars hung lifelessly above snowless grassy slopes due to record-high winter temperatures that have swept across parts of Europe over the new year,
The warm conditions and sparse snowfall has forced some ski resorts across Europe to shut in recent days bringing calls from activists for faster action against climate change.
