- Story Text:Hundreds of people flocked to a fish fair organised in India's northeastern Imphal city during a festival on Tuesday (January 03) to give a platform to fish farmers to boost their business.
Organised by the state Directorate of Fisheries, the festival named, "Emoinu Fish Festival" was being held for the first time as part of the "Emoinu Iratpa" festival. Around 90 stalls were installed and 50,000 kilograms of fish was up for sale.
Devotees offer fish to Imoinu Ahongbi, goddess of wealth and prosperity, during the festival.
Director of Fisheries, Manipur, H. Balkrishna said offering fish, fruits, and vegetables brough prosperity and progress.
"It is very nice lot of people had come here to share their knowledge about the fish different kind of fish and they buy lot of things about the varieties of fish on this occasion," said a visitor, Romesh Huirem.
Sareng Catfish, Catla, Rohu, Mrigal Carp, Silver Carp, Grass Carp were some of the varities being sold at the festival. - Copyright Holder: ANI (India)
