- Story Text: The construction work of a 400-metre-long bridge in India's northern Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir federal territory has entered its final phases, as it gets ready for its inauguration.
The Chambgund bridge reportedly, South Kashmir's longest bridge, has been constructed over the Veshaw River, a tributary of the Jhelum River. It took almost 18 months for constructing the bridge which has been built at a cost of $3.8 million.
"It will provide convenience to the people as it connects Kulgam to Pahloo and Devsar, it connects to the highway. It is a double-line bridge," said Kulgam District Magistrate Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat on Wednesday (January 04).
The locals who earlier were forced to cross the river in the absence of a bridge were happy with the opening of the bridge as it will help them commute easily.
The bridge will be inaugurated in February. - Copyright Holder: ANI (India)
