- Story Text: India has seen a spike in COVID and influenza-related cases in recent weeks however doctors on Friday (March 24) said there is no need to panic as the hospitalization rate is still low.
The federal government has ordered fresh mock drills in hospitals across the country to test their COVID preparedness as India recorded 1,300 COVID cases on Thursday (March 23), the most in 140 days.
"As long as these viral infections are not causing a huge surge in hospital admissions and deaths, I think we just need to have good surveillance program in place, good monitoring, people should follow COVID-appropriate behavior," said the Chairman of the Institute of Internal Medicine and Respiratory and Sleep Medicine, Randeep Guleria.
The eight states where the maximum number of COVID cases are being reported currently are Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, and Rajasthan. - Copyright Holder: ANI (India)
