- Story Text:Disappointed German football fans on Thursday (August 3) witnessed the women’s national team fail to advance beyond the preliminary round of the World Cup for the first time since the event started in 1991.
After a 1-1 draw against South Korea at the 2023 tournament in Australia and New Zealand, the team finished third in Group H, with Morocco and Colombia advancing to the next round.
A fan watching the match at a beer garden in Berlin called the early exit a "pity" while another said the team didn't deserve to advance given their performance in the competition.
The two-time World Cup winners and eight-time European Champions took silver in last year’s Women's Euro 2022 and were eliminated in the quarter-finals of the 2019 World Cup.
