I called my mother-in-law and she said that the water has flooded the fields as well, almost level with the road, but it hasn't entered the house yet. So for the time being, my house is still safe. But in other villages, the water is more serious, some water has reached the roof of the house, and some have entered the house. If the water continues to soak in for a few more days, I don't think they'll be able to keep the furniture and clothes.†DRONE SHOT OF FLOODED STREET (SOUNDBITE) (Mandarin) 36-YEAR-OLD LOCAL VILLAGER LI DANLI, SAYING: “When I was cooking at noon, the gas also stopped. Now the village, I was staying at my mother's house, is repairing the electricity, saying that the electricity can be supplied in the evening. The power has been out since the villagers are flooded, but the water is supplied for two hours a day, one hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon, so basic living is still guaranteed.†DRONE SHOT OF FLOODED STREET (SOUNDBITE) (Mandarin) 36-YEAR-OLD LOCAL VILLAGER LI DANLI, SAYING: “Yes, that is the worst of those two days with the rain and rising water. The night was almost always sleepless, if any sleep it was not solid. Fortunately, things are under a bit of control during these two days. But I heard that the situation in the city is quite serious. - Story Text: A villager from the city of Zhuozhou in China's northern Hebei province recounted her flood experience on Thursday (August 3) as the province is battered by extreme rain brought by the remnant of Typhoon Doksuri.
"The night was almost always sleepless," 36-year-old villager Li Danli said when she stood in front of a flooded street that turned into a river.
Li said floodwater has reached the rooftop of some houses in the village, and they have two hours of water supply each day to sustain basic life needs.
The torrential rain has broken Beijing's 140-year rainfall record, dumping volumes of rain that normally fall in a whole year in the populous province of Hebei.
