- Story Text: Tens of thousands of Israelis took to the streets of Tel Aviv on Saturday (August 5) to protest against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's planned judicial overhaul.
They gathered despite a shooting attack that left one Israeli dead and the suspected shooter killed earlier that day in Tel Aviv.
Reuters drone footage showed people carrying a big banner reading "100% lies" and waving Israeli flags during the protest.
Israel's Supreme Court began hearing on Thursday (August 3), the first in a series of appeals linked to a judicial overhaul undertaken by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his hard-right coalition, which has set off an unprecedented domestic crisis.
A March amendment to a quasi-constitutional "basic law" limited conditions under which a prime minister can be deemed unfit, or incapacitated, and removed from office.
